Here is a cool use of data visualization by the clothing brand Uniqlo-Toykyo Fashion Map. Keeping aligned with its usual strategy of showcasing real customers wearing their products in a natural habitat, the site takes videos of people from various streets of Tokyo wearing the Uniqlo Parka and splices them together to appear like they are virtually passing it along. The street map shows the actual location where each video was taken. The whole idea is reminiscent of what Nike did with pass the ball, but still very innovative and fun to watch.

Nintento Pokemon YouTube video
Here’s a great piece of digital done right- the Nintendo Pokemon YouTube ad for its Platinum version. When you play the video, the entire screen transforms into a 3-D virtual world of YouTube videos showing clips from the game. If you’re thinking you aren’t a gamer so you won’t check it out- I’m going to say do it because I ended up replaying this one more than once. Click here to watch.
Zappos map
Ever wonder how many people are purchasing your products in real time? Zappos’ site shows you that info in a fantastic visual map. Using Google Maps and the buyer’s shipping location, the site marks each purchase made with an image of the product. And of course if you see someone in Illinois buy a kick-ass pair of heels, you can click to view and buy. Although this isn’t that new it is still worth sharing- Zappos.com/map
