Doug Pray film on the world of Advertising:

‘Hate advertising? Make better ads.’

“I really appreciated the way Doug Pray portrayed advertising to the public. It’s easy to forget the aesthetic value and communicative power of ads in today’s cluttered world. Pray brought us back to the birth of advertising through interviews with the big players of the time- illustrating just how different the landscape was then. Ads are supposed to be bold, fun and emotionally riveting when done right. It also reminds us that ideas can not be precisely calculated- just take a look at Nike’s ‘Just Do it’ and the I<3NY logo. I especially enjoyed George Lois’ and Lee Clow’s commentary- hilariously raw. Hopefully more creative types will join the industry to create more substantial work after seeing this. Good, insightful film for everyone. Slow beginning but overall worth it.”

I give it a 4 stars.
