Philips vs. contest

So I’m sure many of you skipped for joy when you finally saw the sun come out today, I know I did. That’s when I saw this Philips v. The Sun video (Philips team put a Wake Up Light in a rooster pen to see if he would wake and crow before the real sun came up)- I thought HOW appropriate. The experiment is a part of a new Twitter contest ‘Philips_Vs’ where users can suggest a similar idea to have a Philips product duke it out with anything you can imagine. I think this is a fantastic idea because not only is it a broad social campaign utilizing multiple channels, it forces people to check out Philips’ product line in order to come up with a creative duel idea. Be sure to watch the rooster video to see if it worked! Still not inspired to tweet your ideas? Check the website for more info.

Philips 21:9 Cinema TV site

A brand that is using the web in a way that is relevant to the actual product they sell is Philips. Philips is about to launch the world’s first Cinema TV. How do you sell a TV through the internet without having consumers actually watch it in-store? The answer is to create a real viewing experience that is nearly identical to testing the product in person. Check out the Philips sitelet to watch the frozen 3D movie in 21:9 cinematic quality. Be sure to compare the difference to the traditional 16:9 format.
